Please note that the MSWA State tournament has changed its format and its
date for 2009. We attempted to avoid the tournaments for the primary leagues
in MD. Please make sure that this info is distributed to everyone that is
involved with the CAWL scheduling. We want to have all the best Md wrestlers
to be available.  Also, wrestlers must enter the Region where they live, not where they

practice.

Maryland Junior Wrestling (MDJW) Youth State Tournament 28 Feb -March 1,2009

The Maryland State Wrestling Association (MSWA) will sponsor the two-day
Maryland Junior Wrestling (MDJW) Youth State Tournament on 28 February and 1
March 2009.

This tournament supercedes what has been known as the Elementary/Middle
School State Tournament.

The event will be held in the Exhibition Hall, Maryland State Fair Grounds
in Timonium, MD.

This will be the first year formalizing the MDJW REGIONAL CONCEPT!

Eight Regions will conduct THE ONLY qualifying tournaments FOR THE STATE
TOURNAMENT, sending the top two wrestlers in each weight class in
four-age/weight divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, to the State Tournament.
Regional tournaments MAY include younger age divisions that will not be
wrestled at the state level.

Formal announcements pertaining to all these events will be made this
October on the MSWA¹s new web site.

This REGIONAL CONCEPT was mirrored upon, and assisted by, the Pennsylvania
Junior Wrestling program. We greatly appreciate their assistance in helping
us establish our MDJW program.
