GENERALS TEAM APPAREL FORMS AND PAYMENTS DUE TODAY, FEB. 2, 2015

The Generals apparel forms and payments are due today, Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, to Ayana Machen (ayanacm8@yahoo.com).

SCHEDULE CHANGE ON FEB. 7, 2015

The Generals are scheduled to host CAWL matches against the Predators, Highlanders, and Elite Forces at Georgetown Prep on Feb. 7, 2015.  However, due to the private schools state indoor track meet at Prep on that day and expected parking problems the Generals are not permitted to host the matches on that day at Prep.  Instead Elite Forces and Tony Barnes will host the matches at Watkins Mills High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland on the same date.  The times will be the same with weigh-ins starting at 9 a.m. on Sat.  The CAWL schedule will be updated with the new location and point of contact listed as follows:

Watkins Mills High School
10301 Apple Ridge Road
Gaithersburg, MD 20879
POC: Tony Barnes, 240-483-7120 (cell)

GENERALS RESULTS FROM FEB. 1, 2015

The Generals won several hard fought matches, but without a full line-up and a few wrestlers out the Generals came up short against the Wolfpack and Outlaws on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, dropping both matches on the day.  Next up are Predators, Highlanders, and Elite Forces on Feb. 7, 2015.

Generals Order Form - 2015.docx

Generals Wrestling Apparel 2015.pdf

Generals Parents,

Coach Gary heard from some of you that you would like to purchase apparel with the Generals logo.  I've arranged for a local vendor to produce them but turnaround time is about 2 weeks. So, if I can get all orders and money by this Sunday (2/1), we have a shot at having them ready for the MD state championship tournament on 2/14-15.

Please get orders and money to me asap if you're interested.  I plan to place the order on Monday morning, February 2.  I will be at practice tonight and Thursday (after 8:00) and at the meet on Sunday.  If you don't see me, you can also give orders and money to my husband Ron.

I have attached the order form and a picture of the available gear.   Note that adult sizes are available for parents and older kids.  Based on previous experience, I would recommend ordering at least one size up.  Please make checks out to Ayana Machen (cash is fine too) - I will consolidate and give the vendor one check.

Thanks,

Ayana (Mom of Jelani and Kadari Machen)

PRACTICE CANCELLED TODAY, JAN. 26

Montgomery County has cancelled all evening activities and Georgetown Prep usually follows Montgomery County Public School announcements, so I expect the Hanley Center to be closed this evening.  The Generals practice is cancelled today, Jan. 26, 2015.  Wrestlers should work out on their own.  Next practice is on Wednesday.

JAN. 24-25 WEEKEND RESULTS

Good work to all of the Generals wrestlers who wrestled tough this past weekend!  The Generals won two out of three CAWL duals on Sunday, beating Virginia Warhawks and Panthers and losing to the Eagles at Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland.  Xtreme, the all-star team that Lorenzo Lopez and Chris Sanchez competed on this past weekend at the McDonogh Duals in Owings Mills, Maryland, placed 5th out of 24 teams.  The Scorpions from New Jersey won the 2015 championship.

JAN. 21 PRACTICE CANCELED

The Hanley Center will be closed this evening due to inclement weather so the Generals practice is cancelled for today, Jan. 21, 2015.    Wrestlers should work out on their own, including doing pushups.

JAN. 19 PRACTICE CANCELED

Due to MLK holiday the Generals practice for today, Jan. 19, is canceled.  See you on Wed.!

MSWA QUALIFIERS

Congrats to the six champs and the rest of the Generals wrestlers who qualified the past two weekends at Landon, Leonardtown, Urbana, and Mt. St. Joe's for the MSWA age/weight state tournament in February.  The state championships will be held Sat. & Sun., Feb. 14 & 15 at Carroll County Agriculture Center in Westminster, Maryland.  Good luck!  The Generals who have qualified are as follows:

GENERALS WIN TWO OF THREE DUALS JAN. 10

The Generals won two out of three CAWL dual meets on Saturday, January 10th, 2015 at Top of the Podium in Sterling, Virginia.  The Generals toppled the Rangers and Warhawks 2, while losing to Warhawks 1.  There were some big matches on the day and the Generals looked good winning several hard fought matches against tough opponents.  Top of the Podium is the home of the Ranger Wrestling Club and designed exclusively for wrestling competition and practices.  It was great for the Generals to have the opportunity to wrestle in such a wrestler-friendly facility.

GENERALS START CAWL DUAL SEASON WITH TWO WINS OUT OF FIVE DUAL MEETS

Thanks for the big commitment this past weekend! The Generals won two out of five dual meets this past weekend and wrestled tough. I'm hoping to fill some holes up at the top of the line-up to make the team more competitive. In light of a small team the Generals wrestled well to start the season.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015
